HIGH-HO,HIGH-HO, IT’S OFF TO CAMP WE GO!
HUMMERS!
The SUMMER HUMMER HANGOUT has been booked! It will take place the weekend of July 23rd, 24th and 25th at the Rockwood Conservation Area. So, here’s the deal, book that weekend off and come and party and bond with your fellow HUMMER Reps.
There are a few things that we need to ask of you guys and gals:
1. Please send us an email saying whether or not you are able to make it or not able to make it to the hangout!
2. If you are able to attend, please let us know if you will be able to carpool with people- just let us know if you have a vehicle and how many it would hold, and where you are coming from
3. If you have a tent and are willing to share it with some other hummers and how many people it would hold
4. If you have any outstanding rep fees, please send us an email- we need to know if you are still interested in being a rep or when you would be able to drop off your fees.
Also an update on Rep-training. There is a new date available for the MANDATORY training if you are UNABLE to make it to the September 2nd and 3rd training days. If you need to book the August 6th session, please let us know!
Now, we have some unfortunate news. Our “I AM HUMANITIES” theme and logo have to be changed. Apparently the theme and logo was SO awesome, that other faculties have used the same idea and therefore we need to change it. We have come up with the slogan for the back of the shirt and a new theme, however, are still in the process of coming up with a logo. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to send them our way.
So just a recap:
1. SHH has been booked- notify us whether or not you are coming or not, if you can drive people and if you are willing to share your tent (how many extra people will fit in it)
2. If you have outstanding rep fees contact us!
3. If you need to attend the August 6th training session, contact us asap!
Hope you’re all having fun in the sun!
Much love ;)

September Rep Training Update
Alright, so we have received some concerns regarding the dates for the mandatory rep training this upcoming September. After talking with the FYEO they have sent us an answer. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to change it. If anyone has any concerns or questions feel free to contact us or the FYEO
Below is the FYEO response:
We've been contacted by some Planners/Reps about the mandatory Rep
training on Thursday September 2 or Friday September 3rd. We understand
and regret that there are some Reps that are unable to attend training
for a variety of personal and professional reasons.
All Reps, both
returning and new Reps must be physically present at one of the
training sessions offered on September 2 or September 3rd. We will
consider offering sessions in the morning, afternoon and evening to
accommodate a wide range of schedules, but with approximately 1200
Welcome Week Reps, we are unable to accommodate every possible personal
and/or professional need. Welcome Week begins on Saturday September 4th
and all Reps will be trained by the beginning of Welcome Week, (i.e.,
sending them minutes or online training cannot be used as a substitute).
Welcome Week Reps have great responsibility and influence over first
year students. It would be irresponsible, as Planners and Coordinators,
for us deliver Welcome Week with untrained Reps. As such, students who
do not attend training will not receive their lanyards and cannot
participate in Welcome Week as Reps.
There are many ways students
can be involved with supporting first year students in their transition
to McMaster and if they are unable to be a Welcome Week Rep, they might
consider being a Student Affairs Ambassador. This is a new position that
will support all Orientation Programs including May @ Mac, Summer
Orientation Program and Welcome Day. These opportunities may be equally
rewarding, where they can showcase their school spirit for incoming
students. Please let your inquiring volunteers know about these options
and encourage them to contact the FYEO directly (fyeo@mcmaster.ca
<mailto:fyeo@mcmaster.ca>) if they have further questions.
On a lighter note: Hope you all are keeping cool and enjoying your break ;)
I AM HUMANITIES

We have finally come up with our theme and logo for the Faculty of Humanities 2010. The theme this year is “I AM HUMANITIES”. We feel that it is important for students entering into the Faculty of Humanities and those who are currently in it to have a lot of pride in what they are doing. We call this “HUMANIPRIDE”. So this welcome week we are looking to our HUMMERS to help spread this message and show how proud you are to be in the Faculty of Humanities and to be attending McMaster University.
Strut, dance, shout, hippity-hop and show your Humanipride in your sexy blue suits ;)
We can have a lot of fun with this guys and gals, especially when ti comes to cheering. If you have any ideas for cheers, feel free to send them our way. We will be posting some of our old/ famous humanities cheers soon;)
